This Policy applies to any personally identifiable information about you ("Personal Information") that you may provide to vTv when filling out a prescreen survey and contact information for potential participation in our clinical study; using our website or sending us information by email; speaking with one of our representatives on the phone; or providing information in writing.

The Way We Use Information

Personal health information will be collected but not stored if you choose to fill out a prescreen survey.  Your actual survey responses are not stored – our computer program only determines how likely you will be eligible to participate in our study.  If you complete the survey and may be eligible to participate in our clinical study or, if you don’t take the survey but provide your contact information and indicate you would like to be contacted by a preferred study site, we will send the contact information you provide to the preferred study site you select.  The contact information you provide to be sent to your preferred study site will be your name, email address and phone number.  Staff from your selected study site will then contact you to follow up. You may be asked additional questions to further determine your eligibility for the clinical study.  By providing this information, you are agreeing to the transfer of this information to your preferred study site.  You will also receive a one-time follow up email letting you know that we sent your information to your preferred study site.  Additionally, you may receive additional follow up emails to remind you about the study or for other reasons; these follow up emails will have an opt out feature to let you opt out of receiving additional emails.  The opt out should take effect immediately but please allow up to 24 hours for it to take effect.

The Way We Share Information

As mentioned above, if you provide your contact information, we will share that information with the preferred study site you select.  Additionally, VTV employees and its partners assisting with the conduct of the study may also have access to your contact information, as well as information such as whether the study site was able to contact you for follow up.   This information will only be used for the conduct of the study. We do not share your information with anyone other than those noted above except where due to an exception listed below.

Other than as noted above, we may use or disclose Personal Information in certain situations required to correct technical problems and malfunctions related to processing information; protect the security and integrity of our web site; protect our rights and property and the rights and property of others; take precautions against liability; respond to a judicial process as required by law; or to provide information to law enforcement agencies as requested.

We take reasonable steps designed to prevent unauthorized access, use and alteration of Personal Information, but cannot guarantee the security of such information.

When Personal Information is collected and passed on to your preferred study site, we use reasonable security methods to protect this transfer.  Please note that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.  Additionally, once your contact information is with your preferred study site, we have no control over their use of your information; however, information will be protected following professional standards of confidentiality.
